Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which characters will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
