Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Lift Trophee des Champions Season-Opening Trophy in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
